RTNO Partnership Spotlight: We Are One 365
By Kate Cutrer, Rebuilding Together New Orleans Special Projects Coordinator
This month, RTNO’s Warriors at Work (WAW), a workforce development program for homeless veterans, received a generous pledge of support from the “We Are One 365” (WAO365) organization.
When this non-profit organization learned about RTNO’s WAW program, WAO365 founder Matthew Wood was eager to support this worthy cause. WAO365’s message is simple, yet earnest: “The men and women in military service have taken care of us, now it is our turn to take care of them.”
WAO365 recently pledged $500 in support of RTNO’s WAW program, as well as sending each of our four veterans a WAO365 t-shirt. However, these aren’t just any old t-shirts for the WAO365 organization. Avid runners and athletes, WAO365 team members sport these t-shirts while participating in marathons, soccer matches, and other sporting events to strike up a dialogue about the challenges faced by our service members.
With the proceeds of the t-shirt sales supporting our service members and their families, RTNO’s WAW crew were grateful for their cause and support. As WAW crew member Barry Jones said after receiving the WAO365 t-shirt, “I don’t know who came up with the slogan “We Are One,” but they got it right. At the end of the day, we really are just one, looking out for the best of our country.”
LAX GEAR ZONE – April 11, 2012
College gear news: Ursinus (Pa.) flashes shirts while honoring ‘We Are One 365′ in preparation for game Saturday
The Ursinus Men’s Lacrosse team, in partnership with We Are One 365, will be honoring the sacrifices of our military and their families on Saturday when it hosts McDaniel College at Patterson Field in Collegeville, Pa.
The game is scheduled for a 3 p.m. start.
The Bears will be the first to participate in the 365 Game Day Program and will be wearing the 365 team shirts for warm ups. We Are One 365′s mission is to raise awareness for the daily sacrifice made by our military and to support military families in need.
“The Ursinus Men’s Lacrosse players have come together as a team to make the We Are One 365 pledge. They are the first college team to make the pledge and we are proud to have them sport our gear,” said Matthew Wood, CEO and Founder of WAO 365.
Men’s Lacrosse has participated in several ways so far this year:
1. “Making the Pledge” to wear the 365 shirts once per week for a team workout to raise awareness and show their support for the sacrifices of our military and their families.
2. 100% of the money raised from shirt sales was donated to a family in Oxford, Maine. The father of the family was killed in action while serving in Iraq as part of the 41st Field Artillery Regiment. In honor of their sacrifice, the team and WAO 365 donated $500 in supermarket gift cards to alleviate some of the monthly financial burden on the family.

The men’s lacrosse program is honored to be partnered with this great organization and excited about taking the next step by participating in the ’365 Game Day Program’ on April 14th. We ask that you please consider “Making the Pledge”, donating to support a military family in need, and to please spread the word in your communities about this great organization.”
